On the occasion of "World NGO Day” i.e 27th February 2023, MOHAN Foundation in association with Rotaract Club of Vizag Metro organized a plantation drive and organ donation Talk at Vignan Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology - Visakhapatnam, with the message that a small sapling planted now provides life to several others. Similarly, a simple yes to organ donation can save several lives.100 saplings were donated to the institution. Dr.Jagdeesh Kumar (Assistant Professor) of the college introduced Dr.Sadika & about MOHAN Foundation.
Dr.Sadika Safeena (Transplant Coordinator, Visakhapatnam )– then started the session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She introduced the concept of organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death that is cardiac and brain death and the organs and tissues that can be donated.
She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of brain dead and number of lives that can be saved. Followed by this the plantation drive was conducted where students & faculty from the session joined for the cause. Rtr.Bhavya (Secretary of Rotarct club) and Rtr.Riyaz (Member of Rotaract club) were present at the event to support the cause.
Dr.Sadika lastly explained few heart touching stories about organ donation to the audience so they can empathize the power of organ donation. Many students were motivated and came forward to volunteer in the future events & the session was well appreciated by the staff and everyone supported the cause.
Close to 200 students & 8 faculty members were present at the event.
