Awareness Session on organ donation at Asian Education Group, Noida

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a session on organ donation at Marwah studios for Asian Education Group on May 10, 2017. The session was taken by Ms. Mareena Thomas, Programme Officer and she was accompanied by Dr. Muneet Kaur Sahi, Programme Manager, Delhi- NCR. It was coordinated by Mr. Ravee Sharma, HOD - Corporate Resource Cell (CRC) of Asian Education Group (AEG). The session was conducted for the students of Asian Law College and Asian School of Business.

     

    Asian Education Group is the largest centre for media education in Asia with world class facilities. Mr. Sandeep Marwah, President Marwah Studios and an international media personality heads the organization. Asian Education Group is the education arm of Marwah Studios Enterprise media education from last 27 years and has created enormous International records for which it has been highlighted and awarded more than 100 times all over the world. It is spread out in about two lacs square feet area in two campus in Noida, one in sector 125 and another in Film City Noida Asian Education Group. It is a family of 10000 media professionals from 90 countries of the World.

     

    Before starting the session, Ms. Mareena asked few questions to understand the basic knowledge of the students. Those were, how many of them had heard about organ donation, organ donor card, brain death and MOHAN Foundation. While many had heard about organ donation and organ donor card only few had heard of brain death and none about MOHAN Foundation. She then proceeded to explain what brain death was and how organ donation and brain death were related. As many of them were pursuing law she spoke at length on the Transplantation of Human Organ Act, 1994, a law that governs the legalities pertaining to brain death and organ donation in India. She also explained how laws of different countries allow potential donors to permit or refuse donation, or give this choice to relatives. The frequency of donations varies among countries.

     

    It was a very enthusiastic group who asked a lot of questions. Dr. Muneet clarified many technical questions and gave clarity on the outcomes of coma i.e. regaining consciousness or progression to brain death or vegetative state.

     

    At the end of the session many students were inspired by the work done by MOHAN Foundation and expressed their wish to register themselves with the Foundation’s internship programme.

     

    Close to 70 students attended the session and 50 donor cards were picked up.
