Awareness Session on Organ Donation for NCC Cadets & JCOs at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Jalandhar, Punjab

  • On 25th June 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Col Kulwant Singh to conduct awareness talk on organ donation for their NCC Cadets, 05 Officers, 07 ANOs, 05 JCOs. Around 650 Cadets from Colleges and Schools of Punjab participated in the program.

    Col Kulwant Singh addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

    Firstly, Neha Sharma introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation. Telling them about how important is Organ Donation and also, has anyone ever donated blood? Many of them raised their hands.

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms.Neha Sharma.

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants and how they became a legacy
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

    The awareness talk ended with a vote of thanks by Col. Kulwant Singh. They encouraged the Cadets to aware and spread message of organ donation. The entire group got motivated and was an interactive session. All the questioned have been answered after the presentation and 100 donor cards being picked by the cadets along with the JCOs. In the end they showed great interest and would like to do more programs with MOHAN Foundation.
