On September 27, 2023, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session on organ donation at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Samurou. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Programme Officer was the speaker and Ms. Thoidingjam Udayini Khuman, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation accompanied her.
Dr. Kimthang, District Nodal Officer, Ayushman Bhava Campaign, CMO Imphal-West Pool contacted MOHAN Foundation and was invited for the same. The session was coordinated by Dr. Md. Salim, Medical Officer, PHC, Samurou. Medical officers & staff of the centre, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) of the area and patients visiting the PHC attended the session. The programme was conducted as a part of the ongoing Ayushman Health Mela.
Dr. Salim introduced the team and opened the floor to Ms. Monica. She started the session by assessing the knowledge of the participants about organ donation and transplantation. She then, explained the following points in details:
At the end of the session, a participant came up for pledging. Later, Frequently Asked Questions translated in local language on organ donation were distributed to the participants for better understanding of the topic.
Close to 25 participants attended the programme and 1 pledged for organ donation.
