Updated on Monday, August 26, 2024
  • On August 2, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted a sensitization session on organ donation for the nursing staff of the Oncology Department at Apollo Hospital. The session was led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, who began by introducing MOHAN Foundation as a not-for-profit NGO dedicated to advancing organ donation awareness.

Ms. Dwivedi provided a comprehensive overview of key concepts related to organ donation, including the differences between circulatory death and brain death. She explained the various organs and tissues that can be donated in both scenarios, such as corneas, skin, bones, and more. Additionally, she discussed newer medical advancements, including the possibility of hand donation.

The session highlighted the profound impact of organ and tissue donation through real-life success stories, articles, and news reports about green corridors. Ms. Dwivedi addressed common myths surrounding deceased organ donation and provided factual clarifications. She emphasized the importance of having conversations about organ donation with family members and the utility of carrying a Donor Card in one’s wallet or purse.

The session was attended by 7 participants and all of whom took pledge after the session, including nurses, paramedic staff, and resident doctors from the Oncology Department. We extend our sincere thanks to In-Charge Sister Geeta for inviting us and to all the participants for their support in promoting the cause of organ donation.
