On February 20, 2025, the MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Lions Club Rishikesh Dev-bhoomi, conducted an organ donation awareness session at the Institute of Computer Accountant Training Centre in Rishikesh. Mr. Mukesh Aggrawal, Director of ICA Rishikesh, organised the session.
The students and staff of the Institute of Computer Accountant Training Centre attended the session, which featured Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader-MF posted at AIIMS Rishikesh, as the speaker.
The session began with Mr. Arora inviting participants to share their knowledge about organ donation. He then provided a detailed overview of the current status of organ donation in India, using a PowerPoint presentation that covered various topics, including:
• What organ donation is and why it is important
• Who can be an organ donor
• The difference between live and deceased donors
• Organs that can be donated during life and after death
• Brain death and the distinction between coma and brain death
• Eye and skin donation, and steps to preserve corneas after death
• The Transplantation of Human Organs & Tissues Act, 1994

• Living kidney transplantation facilities at AIIMS Rishikesh
• Myths and facts about organ donation
• How individuals can contribute to this noble cause
• The goals and objectives of MOHAN Foundation and the Anudaan initiative
• MOHAN Foundation’s 24/7 helpline number
Mr. Arora emphasized the urgent need for organ donation in India and encouraged participants to initiate conversations about it with their families, friends, and colleagues to promote broader awareness. To reinforce his message, he recommended watching the film Aye Zindagi, available on Zee5.
Overall, the session was highly engaging, with participants actively contributing to the discussion and posing numerous queries. During the session, participants raised various questions.
• What is the age limit for eye donation?
• Can the MOHAN Foundation facilitate organ donation?
• Why do countries like Spain and the USA have the highest deceased organ donation rates compared to India?
• We have heard that many people sell organs; is that legal in India?
At the end, the students applauded the work of the MOHAN Foundation. They expressed their intention to speak with their families and pledged to donate organs.
Close to 20 participants attended the session.
