  • On August 2, 2024, in celebration of Indian Organ Donation Day, MOHAN Foundation conducted a significant awareness session on organ donation at G.D. Pol College's Homoeopathy Department. The session was aimed at both the students and the teaching staff of the college and was organized in coordination with Dr. Seema Dandge, the Head of the Homoeopathy Department. As part of the event, a National Service Scheme (NSS) March was also held to honour organ donors.

The session was led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, who introduced MOHAN Foundation and initiated a dialogue about organ donation. She addressed a range of topics including the importance of organ donation, the need for transplantation, and the various organs that can be donated. Ms. Dwivedi also clarified the differences between brain death and cardiac death, and explained the types of donors and the viability of organs post-retrieval. Additionally, she provided a detailed overview of the Transplantation of Human Organs Act and dispelled common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.

Ms. Dwivedi also touched upon skin donation, eye donation, organ donation, and body donation, providing comprehensive information on each topic. During the session, several questions were raised by both teachers and students, including:

    • How to register as an organ donor?
    • What is the difference between body donation and organ donation?
    • Can elderly individuals donate their skin?

Ms. Dwivedi addressed these queries with detailed responses, ensuring clarity and understanding. The session was attended by 158 participants and all the 158 participants took pledge, including students and faculty members of the Homoeopathy Department.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Seema Dandge and the entire staff for their support and for providing the opportunity to conduct this informative session on organ donation.
