On 17th January 2019, Mr. Akash Salve held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and Objectives.He sensitized the members about the concepts of organ donation, why, who and when is it done. He also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death. Heexplained the organs and tissues that can be donated in both types of Death. He elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for gatherers. He also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd and everybody started asking queries related to tissue donation which were answered promptly. He also discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about Green Corridor which was somewhat familiar to the crowd.
Mr. Akash Salve addressed about the myths about Organ Donation public has & how we can debunk them by illustrating the real factsabout Organ Donation. Thereafter he shared with audience how they could take the pledge and also how important it was to share the wish with their loved ones.
"How transparent is the organ allocation to the persons on waiting list", "Are transplant services available in government hospitals?" were a few of the many queries raised during the session.Mr. Akash Salve was able to solve all the queries promptly.
