Awareness Session on Organ Donation at Accounts Department, PIMS, Puducherry

On 18th September, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organized for the personnel of Accounts Department, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Puducherry.

Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session. He explained to them about the various concepts related to deceased organ donation.

The main topics that were discussed during the presentation were:
- Blood Donation and its benefits
- Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
- Brain Death- how it is different from natural death and coma
- Organs that can be donated after brain death and natural death
- Statistics about number of deceased organ donors in Tamil Nadu
- Role of transplant coordinators in hospitals
- Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
All the 7 participants supported the cause by signing the donor card.
