Ms. Sonal Pathak, Director, Human Resources (HR), Radisson Blu, Dwarka, New Delhi and Ms. Parul Makkar, Manager, HR, Radisson Blu, Dwarka, New Delhi took the initiative to coordinate the event to raise awareness on the issue. There were 109 employees who participated in the hour long session. The participants included chefs, administrative staff and members of the housekeeping department.
The discussion covered issues like relevance of organ donation in India; medical and ethical issues involved in organ donation; and the difference between coma, brain death and cardiac death. Ms. Pathak was well informed about the issue and she took extra effort in motivating and nudging the staff to consider pledging their organs by signing the donor card.
16 participants picked up the donor card. Many of them wished to discuss the issue with their family members before pledging. A few cards were left with the organisers so that the interested staff could collect it from them when they make up their mind.
