Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at Biomedical Department of Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai

  • On July 9, 2024, MOHAN Foundation conducted a highly impactful awareness session on Organ Donation at the Biomedical Department of Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai. The session, expertly organized by Mrs. Bhumika, in charge of the department, was led by Ms. Prarthana Dwivedi, Public Education Counsellor from MOHAN Foundation, aimed at sensitizing the staff.

    The session covered a comprehensive range of topics essential to organ donation awareness:

    1. Introduction to MOHAN Foundation and its mission to promote organ donation.
    2. The concept of organ donation, including types and their significance.
    3. The critical role of organ donations from living donors in saving family members' lives.
    4. Understanding different types of death: Brain Death and Circulatory Death.
    5. Clarifying the distinction between Brain Death and Coma.
    6. Comparing contributions of Living Donors versus Deceased Donors.
    7. Dispelling myths and presenting factual information about organ donation.

    The dedicated staff from the Biomedical Department actively engaged in the session, with 12 members participating enthusiastically in discussions. Informational flyers were distributed, enhancing understanding among participants. They expressed sincere appreciation to Ms. Prarthana for her informative and inspiring session, which not only provided valuable insights but also motivated them to take positive action by pledging to donate organs.

    We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Bhumika, in charge of the Biomedical Department, for her invaluable support and for graciously allowing us to conduct this session. We are hopeful that this initiative will contribute to increased awareness and participation in organ donation efforts.
