Awareness Session conducted on Organ Donation at IIT Bombay, Mumbai

  • On September 8, an engaging awareness session on organ donation was conducted at IIT Bombay for the NSS students. The session was led by Ms. Jaya, who provided valuable insights into the importance of organ donation, while Ms. Sakshi facilitated a quiz competition to further engage the students.

    Ms. Jaya began her presentation with a captivating example of Lord Ganesha as the first head transplantation case, drawing the students' interest. She then engaged the audience by posing questions and explaining the critical differences between cardiac death and brain death. Following this, she provided a thorough explanation of the eye donation procedure, ensuring that students understood the significance and process involved.

    After her presentation, a lively discussion ensued, with many students asking questions, particularly regarding concerns about organ donation scams. Several attendees inquired about the kidney transplantation procedure and how to register for it. One student shared a personal story about his family donating his grandmother's organs, adding a heartfelt perspective to the discussion.

    To conclude the session, Ms. Sakshi conducted a quiz competition using Kahoot.it. The students were excited to see the scoreboard after each question, which motivated them to participate actively. Overall, the session was attended by approximately 250 students, fostering a deeper understanding of organ donation among the attendees.
