  • On October 21, 2024, Mr. Bulu Behera, a transplant coordinator from the MOHAN Foundation, set up an information desk at the Eye OPD of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital and Medical College, Digdoh, Hingna Road, Nagpur, at the invitation of Dr. Mayank Gadkari, the hospital's admin in-charge. The stall was equipped with donor cards, brochures, helpline pamphlets, and other essential materials to educate the public about organ donation. Mr. Behera shared valuable information with visitors on a range of topics, including the difference between organ and tissue donation, the process following natural and brain death, eligibility for donation, and the myths and facts surrounding organ donation. He also discussed the legal aspects of organ donation under the Organ Transplant Act of 1994, the role of various national and regional transplant organizations (NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO, ZTCC), and the work of the MOHAN Foundation in promoting organ donation awareness.

During the session, visitors had the opportunity to ask questions, which Mr. Behera answered in detail. Key questions included how the MOHAN Foundation would be informed of a person's death, the legal process for organ donation, the life expectancy of kidney recipients after a transplant, and the number of MOHAN Foundation centers across India. At the end of the session, Mr. Behera thanked Dr. Gadkari for allowing the Foundation to raise awareness about this noble cause. A total of 32 visitors visited the stall, and 2 people took pledge, committing to support organ donation in the future.
