Awareness Program at Bharatiya Mahila Mandali, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Anuradha the members of Bharatiya Mahila Mandali, Vijayawada to conduct an awareness session on organ and tissue donation to their members, students, and employees on June 11th, 2017.

     

    Bharatiya Mahila Mandali, Vijayawada is one of the oldest women empowerment organizations started in 1958. They have a skill training center, library, working women’s hostel, and hostel for poor female students. They are also actively involved in providing assistance and family counselling to the needy women. They also provide the scholarship to bright female students from different schools and also provide study material to the deserving poor students.

     

    The program began with introducing different members of the organization and members of MOHAN Foundation. There were about 130 members that attended the program. The meeting began with an awareness talk by Dr. Bhanu Chandra that explained the importance and need for organ donation in India. They were explained in detail about the concept of brain death, Transplantation of Human Organs Act, misconceptions, and myths regarding organ donation. Dr. Koti Reddy explained the audience on the need to protect organs with a good life style and changes necessary in the diet and life style to avoid organ failure. All the participants were distributed with information brochures and 100 donor cards were distributed to the members that have pledged to donate organs.

     

    We thank Mrs. Anuradha and Mrs. Padmaja, the members of Bharatiya Mahila Mandali for providing us this opportunity to interact with their members and for organizing this event supporting the noble cause of organ donation.
