


On 13th August, 2013 an awareness talk on organ donation was organized for the final year students of Masters of Social Work (MSW), Loyola College, Chennai. Ms. Kavitha. S, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai conducted the session.
Ms. Kavitha focused on the following topics: who can be a donor, the difference between natural death and brain death, what is brain death, the difference between brain death and coma, what are the organs and tissues that can be donated after brain death and about the importance of a donor card. At the end of the presentation; a video of a donor narrating his experience was screened. In the question and answer session few of the questions raised were: how to register for organ transplantation, whom do we inform about our wish to donate our organs, are the organs allocated in a fair manner, can a transplanted organ be donated and are donor families remunerated.
