A tribute to a teacher

  • On 13th March 2014, Mrithasanjeevani was invited by the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Women’s’ Engineering College, Trivandrum  to address their student on the joint occasion of LBS College Fest ”Yedhura” and M Sivakumar Charitable memorial Trust day.

     

    Shri M. Sivakumar was a staff of Sree Chitra Thirunal College Of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. He was fondly called “Shikku” by loved and near ones. He was a cornea donor.  

     

    Ms Arya recounted "A teacher is a person who makes you want to learn and our Sivakumar sir has proved to be the best. He inculcated in us a habit of getting vast knowledge and reminded us the wording 'learning is fun'. He is the reason why many of us are engineers today. So to commemorate the great path that was led by him, M Sivakumar Memorial Charitable Trust was formed 2 months back. It is a non-profit charitable organization started by students, friends and family of Sivakumar sir. The Trust is established for the benefit of citizens of India without discrimination of religion, caste, race, colour, creed or sex and is especially meant for the financially and socially backward classes."

     

    The occasion  started with welcome address by   Prof. Ravindrenath, Principal, LBS Women’s Engineering College. Ms. Kavitha, Project Manager, MOHAN Foundation and Mr. Aneesh P. V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation deputed at Mrithasanjeevani represented the Kerala Network for Sharing(KNOS).

     

    Ms. Kavitha addressed the gathering. Her talk concentrated on activities of Mrithasanjeevani, who can donate, where can one donate, when can  one donate, why they have to donate and how to donate. Importance of donor card was explained and Toll free number was highlighted.

     

    After the talk a short film on Late Mr. Sivakumar's life was screened. Nearly 65 students attended the programme and all signed up donor card.
