    LIGHTING UP PEOPLE's LIVES

This is the true story of a young boy who died when he was only 16, but who has touched the lives of many in a truly remarkable way-by giving them life. It also brings to light the greatness of a family who donated his organs even at the time of extreme sorrow on losing their only son. His name was R. Thiyagarajan. He was an intelligent, obedient and studious boy who was doing his plus 1 at K.C. Sankaralingam Higher Secondary School, Chennai - 21. He took ill suddenly with high fever accompanied by an unbearable headache. On being taken to the local doctor, it was noted that he had lost total sensation and movement on one side of his body. He was immediately shifted to a nearby Hospital, where a CT scan confirmed that he had an intracerebral hemorrhage and he was eventually declared brain dead.

The family was totally shattered on hearing that their son was dead. But even in this period of extreme grief, the family agreed to donate all the organs or their son to other critically ill patients to whom it would make a difference between life and death. Now, the family takes pride in knowing that this selfless act of theirs has given a new lease of life to six people.
