On March 18, 2015 MOHAN Foundation conducted a talk on organ donation for the staff of Genpact - Research Now process, Gurgaon.
The initiative to organize the session was taken by Mr. Pankaj Thareja (Assistant Manager, Genpact) whose primary aim was to create awareness among the employees and increase their understanding of the concept of organ donation.
Genpact is a multinational business process outsourcing and information technology services company, which deals with designing, transforming and running various business operations. It has its various centers across 25 countries. In India, Genpact has provision of legal services, media services, analytics & research, etc to various industries like capitals, telecommunications, automotive, life sciences, etc.
Dr. Muneet started the session by introducing the foundation and its objectives. To assess the awareness level of the participants and also to involve them she asked the participants whether anyone had anything to share regarding organ donation. One of the participants shared with the group that he had pledged his eyes. She then explained in detail about cornea donation and emphasised on the need to spread awareness on cornea donation at an individual level.
The session also covered other important topics like types of donations, how to diagnose brain death, tissue donation, the Transplant Law of India and difference between cardiac and brain death. Few queries like whether organs could be preserved, how to pledge your organs, which organs could be donated while you are alive etc were dealt in a professional manner.
70 participants attended the talk and 12 donor cards were picked up.
