900 students attend an Organ Donation talk at Jaigopal Garodia National Higher Secondary School, Tambaram

  • MOHAN FOUNDATION  conducted an Organ Donation Awareness program in  Jaigopal Garodia National Higher Secondary  School, Tambaram, Chennai on 31st August 2016. 900 students of  11thstandard attended the awareness program.

    Ms. Priya , student of the Social Work department of Hindustan College  and  currently doing her field work in MOHAN FOUNDATION took the initiative to organise this program.  MOHAN FOUNDATION was  represented by Mr. Periyanayagam , Transplant Coordinator and Ms. Ann  Alex, Jr. Trainer.     

    The program started with a welcome speech by the Head Master, the  Assistant Head Master  explained and introduced the concept to the students. 

    Mr. Periyanayagam  started with the history of MOHAN FOUNDATION  and explained about what is organ donation, the Transplantation of Human organs Act , types of death, who can donate, age factor, tissue donation, importance of blood donation.

    He clarified the difference between cardiac death and brain death, the organs which can be donated after cardiac death and brain death, the legal and ethical aspects of organ donation and the process of pledging one's organs.

    During the program questions were asked to the students. The students were very alert and smart during the session 

    A feedback was given by the  MOHAN Foundation  team to the Joint Secretary  and also Head masters  of the school about the interest shown by the students. We  thank  the school for organising the program.
